Cordelia J. Harris was born in Dade County, Missouri, November 13, 1855 and lived almost her entire life in this county. She was married January 9, 1875 to John D. Ball. To this union four children were born, all of whom survive and were at her bedside when she passed away early in the morning of August 4, 1935, at the farm home southwest of Arcola, where she had lived since her marriage, having continued to live there with her daughter, Mrs. Ora Maberry, since the death of her husband, January 28, 1914.
Beside her two sons, E. O. Ball of Greenfield, and R. O. Ball, of Walnut Grove, and her two daughters, Mrs. Alta Maberry of Arcola, and Mrs. Leona Hayward, of Erie, Kansas, brothers, J. S. Harris of Dinuba, California, and Charles and Albert Harris of Milford, Missouri, also 16 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren, with a host of other relatives and friends who mourn her departure.
Mrs. Ball was converted in early life and joined the Baptist Church at Arcola, but after her marriage, she united with the Methodist Church at Arcola, of which her husband was already a member. She made her religion a part of her every-day life, and as long as her age and health permitted she would always be found where there was sickness, or where any help was needed. She was faithful to her Christ and her Church until the end.
Rev. D. S. Fraizer conducted the funeral service at the home at eleven a.m. on Monday, August 5«sup»th«/sup». Interment was made at the Hickory Grove cemetery under direction of J. W.
