Sir Colin Campbell, 1st Baronet, of Ardkinglass

Colin Campbell of Ardkinglass, co Argyll, son and heir of James Campbell of the same, M.P. [S] for Argyllshire, 1646-49, by Mary, daughter of Sir Robert Campbell of Glenorchy, co Perth, was born about 1640, and was created a Baronetcy [S], 23 March 1679, with rem. to heirs male of the body. He was imprisoned in 1684 on (apparently unfounded) suspicion of high treason, and was afterwards M.P. [S] for Argyllshire 1693-1702. He married Helen, daughter of Sir Patrick Maxwell of Newark. He died April 1709.
