Genevieve Pittelkow said her bible says he is from Varchmin. (Germany?) Pegloi is another spelling of his last name, probably from the old country. It means Horse/Lion according to Bruce Peglow. He was in the millitary in Prussia-Robert Pittelkow remembered his funeral where he wore a pointed helmet and his uniform from Prussia. He was laid out on the family couch for the viewing. He was a very tall man and needed a special casket made for him.

The helmet and uniform must not have been burried with him as Florence Pittelkow told me that Lydia Pittelkow later tossed the uniform as she was against wars and fighting.

On Michael Reichow's website he states that he thinks that Christian and Johan Peglow came to St. Paul at approx. the same time and that they may be brothers.

    9. From headstone in Elmhurst Cemetery. I am not sure that this is the correct Christian Peglow. Just guessing as grave was in the same cemetery
as a lot of other relatives. 1880 Census says he and his parents were born in Prussia. He was 63. 1870 Census, he was 50 which would make his
      birth year 1820.

Varchminn is a small village which lays half way between the cities of Koslin and Colberg. Very near the Baltic Sea.
