Chester Stancliff Dead.

Chester Stancliff, who has been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. E. L. Green, died Tuesday morning at 12:30 o'clock, aged 85 years, 7 months and 20 days. The funeral was held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock, conducted by Rev. A. P. Hamilton. The remains were laid to rest in Sherman cemetery. The pall bearers were F. L. Fletcher, J. C. Goheen, A. F. Mason, G. B. Walker, G. W. Stewart and A. H. McLavy.

Chester Stancliff was born in Windham Vermont August 5th 1822. At an early age he removed with his parents to Iowa. In 1844 he was united in marriage to Sarah E. Gore in Lee county Iowa. To this union nine children were born, four sons and five daughters. Two of the sons and three of the daughters survive him. They are Mrs. E. L. Freen [probably Green] of this city, Mrs. Ella Hughes and Mrs. Alma Preston both of Oklahoma. Sanford Stancliff of Missouri and Emory Stancliff of Oregon.

In 1854 he removed to Kansas. His wife died in 1876. He was a member of the Christian Advent church and continued firm in his faith to the last.
