The young Charles Olmstead came early in life to Norwalk and was one of the most energetic and popular public school instructors of his day. He married, Dec. 8, 1850, Mary Jane, born Aug. 24, 1830, daughter of Deacon Charles and Emeline (Brown) Lockwood, of Norwalk, and had
