    Obit at funeral: March 27, 1987, marked the passing of one of Guthrie County's older citizens, Charles McLuen, son of Fay and Lauretta (Lockmiller) McLuen, was born January 16, 1892 at Dale City, Iowa and passed away at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa. He attended country school at Dale City and Pleasant Valley. In November, 1912 he was united in marriage to Elsie Clouse and three children were born to this union, Kenneth, Wilbur and Darlene. Besides farming north of Menlo, Charles operated grocery businesses at Glendon and Dale City, also working at the brickyard at Glendon. He enjoyed fishing and playing baseball. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, two brothers, one sister and his son Kenneth. Surviving are his son Wilbur and wife Peggy of Wichita, Kansas; daughter Darlene and husband Tom Downing of Warsaw, Missouri; three grandchildren, Sharon Ostrem and Diane and Stan McLuen; two great grandchildren Jason and Stephanie Belding, housekeeper, Florence Nolte, other relatives and friends.
