    Charles W. McGowan, son of Samuel and Christian McGowan was born in Topeka, Kansas on May 19, 1871 and died on April 3, 1938 at the age of 66 years, 10 months and 15 days.

    He was married on March 12, 1894 to Elizabeth Vogelgesang at Lyndon, Kansas. To this union was born one son Jacob Samuel. They spent the first nine years of their marriage on a farm near Wakrusa, Kansas, then moved in 1906 to their farm near Baileyville, Kansas on which they resided until March 6, 1938, when they moved to Vermillion, Kansas.

    He leaves his wife and son Jacob; one sister, Myra Kelley, Pasedena, CA; four brothers, Frank McGowan, of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, John L. McGowan Wichita, Kansas, Ed McGowan, Topeka, Kansas and Clyde McGowan, Liberal, Kansas; four grandchildren. He spent his entire life farming and loved to work with his livestock.

    Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church in Vermillion with Reverend A.M. Reitzel officiating, and burial was in the Vermillion Cemetery.
