    CHAS. R. KING

The whole city was shocked last Friday afternoon when the news was passed from one to another that Mr. Chas. R. King, a, prominent citizen of this city, had passed away at 2:30 that day. Mr. King had been in bad health for some time and had but recently recovered from pneumonia following influenza. He had been spending a while on the coast and had decided to return home because of his enfeebled condition. On reaching Mobile he had become too weak to travel and decided to stop there for a few days. Next morning he was no better and went to a hospital where he breathed his last.

Mr. King was a useful citizen, energetic, progressive and accommodation. He was a large farmer and stock raiser, as well as successful merchant and banker, and in his many activities had amassed considerable wealth. He was fifty-six years of age and was twice married and left a wife and eight children to mourn his loss.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church by Rev. F.D. Daniels, of Memphis.
