He was an Episcopal minister and later bought an inn in Mass. His wife was Ruth, and that is where Caroline was living when she died, per Ruth Laug TerKeurst. Obituary REV. CHARLES H. EVANS, 62. Brewster -- The Rev. Charles H. Evans, 62, of Brewster, former owner of the Inn of the Golden Ox, died Thursday at Cape Cod Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, he graduated from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, and Benley Hall Divinity School of Kenyon College, Gambler, Ohio. He was rector of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Cleveland for 20 years before moving to Cape Cod in 1973, when he purchased the Inn of the Golden Ox in Brewster. He was manager and maitre d' of the establishment until early this year. He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Morris) Evans, of Brewster; a daughter, Carole Ellen Evans, of Brewster; and a brother Howard D. Evans of Lafayette, Calif. Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, in the Church of the Holy Spirit, Monument road, Orleans. Burial will be private. There will be no visiting hours.
