OBITUARY: Charles Ewart Blythe WHITSETT - Charles Ewart Blythe, 80, of 604 N.C. 61 South, died Sunday, May 11, 2003, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after three years of failing health and one month of critical illness. He was born in Henderson County, N.C. to the late Henry Ewart Blythe and the late Lillian McDaries Blythe and the husband for 61 years to Edna Ingle Blythe who survives. Mr. Blythe retired after 28 years with the Sheet Metal Workers Local #159 in Greensboro. Survivors other than this wife of the home include daughters and son-in-law, Sandra and Cecil Whitesell of Elon and Lynn Blythe of Burlington; sons and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Peggy Blythe of Whitsett, David Blythe of Greensboro; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Don Anacker of Orlando, Fl. and brother and sister-in-law, Troy and Ruby Blythe of Myrtle Beach, S.C. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Charles Darryl Blythe, and brothers, Leonard Blythe, Morris Blythe and Howard Blythe. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Springwood Presbyterian Church by Rev. Don Kearns and Rev. Bennie Smith. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Springwood Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 5, Whitsett, N.C., 27377. Charles was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and community friend who was always willing to lend a helping hand to everyone. He was a pillar of the Whitsett community who enjoyed working on fund-raisers, was a volunteer with the Whitsett Fire Department, member of the Greater Whitsett Ruritan Club, Whitsett Community Club and former Precinct Chairman with the Whitsett Democratic Party. He had many hobbies including deep sea fishing, grilling out, camping and talking to friends and neighbors. He was a man of his convictions who found the Lord later in life. Charles was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be missed greatly.
