Charles Richard "C.R." Allwine, 85, of Jeff Lane, Hummelstown, died Thursday, October 3, 2002 at his home. Born January 14, 1917 in Westmoreland County, he was the son of the late Florence R. and Rebecca Loughner Allwine.

He was a retired co-owner of Allwine-Curry Service, Greensburg, PA.

He was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hummelstown; the Mohler Senior Center, Hershey, and was a former member of the Automotive Service Council. Mr. Allwine was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II in which he was a Bronze Star recipient and was a volunteer at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Betty Bowman Allwine; a daughter, Karen A., wife of Ira Showden of Liverpool, NY; a son, Kenneth B., husband of Connie Allwine of Hummelstown; a sister, Maxine Shehab of Valley Stream, NY; and three grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at his church,100 West Main Street, Hummelstown. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Arrangements are being handled by Buse Funeral Home, Hummelstown.
