Cathryn Johanna Boersma (nee Van Hees) Calumet City, IL Cathryn Johanna Boersma (nee Van Hees), age 82, of Calumet City, IL. Cathryn was born June 17, 1921 in Grand Haven, MI to Henry and Kate (nee Veltman) Van Hees. She passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2004 at Ingalls Inpatient Hospice in Harvey, IL. She is survivd by special nieces Marlene (Henry) Cook, Jean Perz and nephews Harold "Bud" (Roxy) Boersma and Leonard (Shirley) Boersma and several other special nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Cathryn was preceded in death by her husband George Boersma; their two sons Dennis Charles and Donald George and her brother Henry Van Hees. Visitation Sunday, March 28, 2004 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home, 649 E. 162nd St. (Rt.6/159th St.) South Holland, IL. Funeral service Monday, 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Reformed Church,16341 South Park Ave., South Holland, IL, with services conducted by Rev. Alfonzo Surrett and Rev. Henry Elgersma. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery, Lansing, IL. Cathryn was a 45-year employee of South Holland Bank and was its first woman officer; she was a member of Calvary Reformed Church in South Holland and was an active member of its Biegel Circle and Wednesday prayer group; she was also a member of Dolton-Riverdale American Legion Auxiliary. Memorial contributions to Calvary Reformed Church would be appreciated. Published in The Times on 3/27/2004.
