Catherine Martha Woerner was born September 23, 1826 (S1 & S2) in Wurttemburg, Germany to Michael and Katherine (Schaberlia) Woerner, the first of nine children. In 1853, three of her brothers came to the United States settling in Adrian Township, Lenawee County, MI. (S3) They liked it so much that one went back to Germany in 1854; and returned to the U.S. with his mother, his sister Catherine Martha, and his other siblings (S2), ther father having died in the interim. They all settled in Adrian Township at and near the intersection of Tipton Road and Sheppard Road. Catherine Martha Woerner (usually known as Martha) married Michael Wilson April 7, 1855 in the Tecumseh M.E. Church By W. P. Judd (S1). Martha purchased the homestead 40 acres of their farm in 1862 in Franklin Township on the west side of North Adrian Highway across from the tee intersection with Russell Road coming from the east. Catherine Martha Wilson died December 19, 1891 after an illness (S1, S5 & S6). She left the homestead 40 acres to her seven children who were still living at the time of her death. She is buried in Raisin Valley Cemetery in row 2 from the westline and grave 8 from the southline of the cemetery (S7). References
