The following story as told by Father Charles Litzinger,

Catherine's mther died when she was an infant; her father, John Parshall placed her in an orphanage; when she was two years old bound her out to Daniel Phillips, near Sego, Ohio - - he was kind, considerate, but died while she was very young - - Mrs Phillips noved to East Sheridan Street (Maria Stickle's house). Mrs Phillips was cruel and on one occasion hitting catherine on the head for giving a piece of bread to a hungry neighbor. When Catherine was 12 years of age - - taken from Mrs Phillips by a court official and placed with Henry Flautt. She stayed five years, worked pitching hay, etc. Later worked in housework for various people until her marriage. When Caterine reached 15, a Mrs Wells told her that her father had written and asked her to return to Cincinnati for a visit - -she never paid any attention to his request. [Search family.two.FTW]
