Burial card exists for St. Mary's cemetary, from which birth and death dates were taken. First name spelling Catherine is based on a letter to her son, William. She signed her name as such. William's birth certificate shows his mother's name spelled as Katherine, as does her own marriage certificate. It is believed these records are incorrect, however. The book "The Log Church in Derrynane" also shows the spelling as Catherine. It is known that John and Catherine's divorce was a bitter one, and it's possible John misspelled his wife's name on purpose on the above-mentioned documents.
