Catherine F. Welling went home to be with her Lord on Monday, February 5, 2018.
Mrs. Welling was born in Queens, New York to Michael and Elisabeth Friedl. She moved to Sao Paulo, Brasil. Upon returning to the U.S. she met and married Robert H. Welling Jr.
Mrs. Welling retired from the U. S. government after 34 years of service. She was a member of Gordon Road Church of God. She was a loving mother and a kind and giving friend to many. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her son, Robert H. Welling III; and sister Christina F. Carr.
Mrs. Welling never had any grandchildren however sponsored ten children in Africa, Hatiti and Brasil whom she regularly corresponded with and had the opportunity to visit and meet one of them. She was preceded in death by her husband and youngest son, Gregory P. Welling.
A service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 10 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
