Mrs. F. L. Rickenberg Passes Away

Monday morning, July 21st death came to Mrs. Caroline Rick- enberg, at the family home in this city and brought relief from her suffering. She died from a lingering case of diabetes.

She was born at Powhattan Point, Iowa, December 11, 1860 [See Note 1 below] and died at Steeleville, July 21, 1924, aged 63 years, 7 months and 10 days. Funeral services was held Wednesday, July 23 at 1:30 P.M. from the residence and at 2:30 P.M. at the Friedens church with interment at the Steeleville Cemetery. The services was conducted by the minister, Rev. P. B. Roediger.

Mrs. Rickenberg's maiden name was *********** [see note 2 below] and a daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Fredrick Weissgerber, who was a minister of the Wine Hill church at one time, where Mrs. Rickenberg met and married F. L. Rickenberg, on September 16, 1882. To this union were born three sons and five daughters, two daughters dying in infancy. Those who survive the mother are; Mrs. Emma Brammer of Anniheim, Cal., Mrs. Bertha Whippo of Fullerton, Cal., Mrs. Margaret Schnoeker of Steeleville Edward of Pomonia, Cal., and Herbert of Steeleville. Five brothers and one sister remain to mourn the death of their sister. They are August Weissgerber of Ava, Louis of Keosauqua, Iowa, Will- iam of Rockwood, Fredrick of Golden, Illinois, Frnest of Rhode- his, N. Carolina, and Mrs. Bertha Heine of Annaheim, Cal. Sever- al grand children with a host of friends and relatives to mourn her death.

Mrs. Rickenberg has made her home near Steeleville all of her married life, the family residing on a farm south of town for many years, when they came here to make their home. She was a faithful member of the Frieden's church.

In her death the community looses one of its best and respect- ed citizens.

-Note 1: Birthplace is incorrect here and was probably unknown by the author(s), and there is no such place in the state of Iowa (Ohio was probably meant). See 1870 census and her father's page for his career and their residence at the time.

-Note 2: Illegible (probably because of a crease in the copy). Must read "name was Caroline Weissgerber..."
