Miss C. Edith Roney, 88, of 3266 Dickey Mill Rd., Mebane, died Friday, May 6, 2005 at 9:05 p.m. at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields. A native of Alamance County, she was the daughter of Henry Baxter Roney Sr. and Carrie Anderson Roney, both deceased, and a sister to the late James A. Roney Sr. A graduate of Alamance County’s old Pleasant Grove High School, she completed a business course at Flora Macdonald College, now St. Andrews Presbyterian College. She was secretary of Isley Knitting Mills, Inc., Graham for 41 years. A lifetime member of Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, she served as a deacon and was active in the women’s work where she received an Honorary Life Membership in the Presbyterian Women. She was a former member of the Emma Harris Garden Club of Mebane. Survivors include a sister, Nancy Roney Covington and her husband, Buddy of Fayetteville; a brother, Henry B. Roney Jr.. of Mebane; a niece, Carolyn Roney Turner and her husband, George of Pisgah Forest; a nephew, James A. Roney Jr.. and wife, Carolyn of Mebane; a sister-inlaw, Mrs.. Hazel Roney of Mebane; two grandnieces; two grandnephews; two greatgreat-nieces; and three greatgreat-nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Cross Road Presbyterian Church on Monday, May 9, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Tempe Fussell. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. today at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home in Graham. Other times they will be at the residence of the brother, Henry B. Roney Jr.., 3227 Dickey Mill Rd., Mebane, N.C. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, 3302 N. N.C. 119, Mebane, N.C. 27302
