When Caroline was born her family lived in Terminus road, Hailsham, she was baptised at St Mary's Hailsham.
Caroline was 15 when her family emigrated to New Zealand.
Caroline married Alfred Ebbles Cleaver on the 22nd of March 1883. She was 23, he was 31.
Caroline may have been known as Elizabeth, in the family bible their marriage entry is written in her husband Alfred's handwriting "Alfred Cleaver and Elizabeth Cleaver".
Caroline and Alfred lived in Marton for about 15 years.
