After a courageous battle with cancer, Carmella Louise Kauten of Anaheim, passed away on Friday, September 20th, 2013. Carmie was born on August 18, 1947 to Lloyd and Laurabelle Covault in Dayton, Ohio. Several years later Carmie's parents moved the family to Buena Park. On October 8, 1966, Carmie married Dennis Kauten at St. Pius V Catholic Church. Two years later Carmie and Dennis welcomed a daughter, Michelle, followed by a son, Dan two years later.
Carmie retired in 2000 from the Orange Unified School District's school age care program where she was the day care leader at Imperial Elementary in Anaheim Hills. Carmie enjoyed taking care of her roses and watching the various species of birds eat in her backyard.
Carmie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Dennis; her daughter, Michelle; her son, Dan; her daughter-in-law, Maria; and her granddaughter, Hailey. Carmie will also be missed by her brothers and sister as well as the many friends she made throughout her life.
Services will be graveside on Friday, September 27, at 10:30 am at Forest Lawn in Cypress.
