Carl James Richards, 74, of 1613 Lawrence St., Parkersburg, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital. He was born in Big Springs, Calhoun County, a son of the late Frank and Liza Modesitt Richards. He was retired from Universal Glass Products Co., and was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church where he was vice-president of United Methodist Men. He is survived by his wife, Edna Starr Richards; one son, Don K. Richards of Parkersburg; one daughter, Delores Sears of Washington, W.Va., one stepson, Richard Spiker of Arkansas; one stepdaughter, Karen Robinson of Parkersburg; one brother, J. C. Richards of Big Springs; three sisters, Zanie Yost of Big Springs, Mamie Frederick of Belpre, and Amie Ward of Grantsville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Jackson Richards; and two brothers. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Ogdin Funeral Home in Parkersburg, with the Rev. Hollie Thompson officiating. Additional services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Stump Funera lHome in Grantsville. Burial will be in Nobe Cemetery in Calhoun County. Friends may call at the Ogdin Funeral Home, at Parkersburg, today, and at the Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, 3 p.m. Saturday.
