Stanly, Caleb, Hartford. Died 5 May, 1718. Invt. £402-08-03. Taken 13 June, 1718, by John Marsh, Jr., and Nathaniel Stanly. Will dated 7 March, 1715-16.

I, Caleb Stanly of Hartford, do make and ordain this my last will and testament: I give to my wife Lydia Stanly, besides what I have given her in way of dowry before marriage, one cow, 40 shillings in household stuff, one swine, and lend her one feather bed and furniture during her natural life, and after her decease to be returned to my children. I confirm unto my daughter Abigail Stanly and her heirs forever my land on the east side of the Great River, after my decease, I to have the last crop growing upon it, my son Caleb having paid for it before his death, to be free of all common fence. I give my son Roger Pitkin five shillings as a token of my love besides what I have given to his wife. I give to my daughter, Wido. Abigail Stanly, five shillings as a token of my love besides the portion I gave her husband before his death, being above £300, set down in my book of accot., Ledger G, Page 138. I give to my four grandchildren, Timothy, Caleb, Jonathan and William Stanly, all my right in the last five miles of land on the east side of the Great River, purchased of Mr. Thomas Buckingham and Major ffitch. I give to my daughter Elizabeth Pitkin five shillings as a token of my love besides the portion I have already given her. I give the remainder of my estate, both personal and real, to my daughters, Ann and Abigail Stanly, forever, to be equally divided between them, excepting what is hereafter provided, that is to say, if it does not arise to more between them than what I have given already to my daughter Ruth; but if it does amount to more, then my daughter Ruth to have equally with them in the said estate, with what she hath already received. I make my son William Pitkin executor. I give him my gold ring partly as gift and partly to encourage him to be my executor, and give him power to sell any part of my land to pay my debts. I make my loveing friends, Ensign John Marsh and Sergt. John Skinner, my overseers.
