He served in the French and Indian War, Sept. to Dec. 1755 in the 7th Co., 2d Regt.; Apr. to Dec. 1756 in the 1st Co., 3d Regt; Mar. to Nov. 1757 in the 2d Co., Col. Lyman's Regt.; and Mar. to Nov. 1758 as Sergt. in the 1st Co., 2d Regt. In the Revolutionary War, he was Capt. in the 2d Militia Regt. Administration on Caleb's estate was granted, 3 Aug. 1801, to his widow Eunice and son Eldad. Mutual agreement of the heirs, 26 Oct. 1810: Widow Eunice Gilbert, the daughter Eunice Goodsell, the daughter Anne Thomas and Asa Thomas her husband, and Eldad Gilbert."
