WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Bruce W. Irwin, 84, died June 24, 2004. Born in a Model T Ford near Utica, N.Y. he was the son of the late Walter and Sarah Mead Irwin. He was raised in the Grand Gorge area. Bruce was a double letter athlete in basketball-baseball. He was a tool and die maker at GE. Bruce then received a degree in watchmaking from Western Pennsylvania Chronological Inst. He owned and operated Irwin Jewelers in Cohoes until 1967. Bruce then moved his family to central Florida and continued as a jeweler and watchmaker for a total on 50 years. He was an avid golfer and a lover of all animals.
Bruce is predeceased by his loving wife of 32 years, Esther Brooks, and survived by his second wife Jeannette Davis; his loving daughters, Sheila Irwin of Grafton, N.Y., Robin Irwin of Gotha, Fla., Tracy Irwin of Asheville, N.C. and Kelly Irwin of New York City; four grandchildren, Emily, Adam, Sarah, and Mohamed El Samahi of Gotha, Fla.; his brother, William of Roxbury, N.Y.; and sister, Viola Persall of Norwich, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; predeceased by brothers, Walter, George, Ray and sisters, Helen Raymond, May Wright. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of Bruce's life at First United Church, 61 Third Street, Waterford, N.Y. on Saturday, July 24, at 11 a.m. Expressions of sympathy, in his memory, may be made to your local Alzheimer's Association.
