Some websites (including the pictureless Find A Grave memorial that goes with the cited inscription) identify David's wife as Betty Gilbert, d/o Thomas Gilbert and 2nd wife Elizabeth Howe, bap. Dec. 1730 according to records printed in Orcutt. Even though Orcutt notes the baptism, he does not suggest any marriage for Betty, and the evidence linking these two has not been found. It appears to be speculation based only on her birthdate and name, not actual evidence of their marriage?
