'The Record' article says Benjamin "died while crossing a mill flue along, fell in and was drowned. His residence was on or near Great Coes Neck, south side town of Hempstead." I, Janie, have assumed his death was not far from his home. "In 1782 he was made administrator of his mother-in-law's estate and is mentioned in the 1790 U.S. Census. Probably the Quartermaster in Col. Hewlett's Light Dragoons, Queens county, 1778. Administration on his estate granted to his three sons, John, Thomas and Benjamin, and son-in-law, Daniel Bedell." Eight children listed in the article: Mary, Susan, John, Benjamin H., Thomas, Daniel, Samuel and Phoebe.
