Facts and Events
Ben was the manager of Tranter Industries in Franklin, Indiana He was a member of the Franklin Pilots Club. Ben and I were very close. When I was a small child he would take me out on "dates". I would be dressed in my very best and we would go see a movie at the Franklin or Artcraft theaters. After the movie, he would frequently take me to the G C Murphy store toy department and allow me to pick out whatever I wanted. Always afraid that I might offend him, I would seach for the cheapest thing I could find. Our Easter family gatherings were such a big event and everyone came in their new clothes. We did not always have money for my sister and I to have new clothes. I remember the Easter eve that Ben and my aunt came to the farm and he presented me with a new gray skirt and jacket. It had lovely pink pipping along the edges. I was so proud of that outfit. References
