  3. 3.0 3.1 The date given in Haddock's book for the birth of Benjamin Taylor is almost certainly wrong. At the time his mother would have been 14 years old, and by her own testimony she did not marry until 1882 when she was 17. A more likely date would be sometime after 1785, the estimated marriage date given by Ettinger. J W Taylor gives a birth date of 1794 which would be consistent with the first recorded marriage.
