  7. 7.0 7.1 In both transcriptions of his birth date, it occurs between entries for Jan 5 1676 and Jan 6 1676, implying that it was squeezed in later. From the context (in both volumes), the year is 1676/77, which agrees with his age at death (in 72d year - that is, 71 years old).
  8. There is intentions and a marriage in Westfield, p. 81:
Benjamin Stebbens of Springfield and Margaret Root of Westfield had there names Entred of there Intentions of Marriage and Publication there of Set up as the Law Directs Novem'br 14 1747.
Benj'am Stebbens & Margaret Root were Joyned in marriage by ye Rev'nd John Ballantine Decem'r 16 - 1747.
Based on the date of death of his first wife in 1746, this seems like it could be this Benjamin remarrying shortly before he died himself in 1748. His will was dated in 1743 and still mentions his first wife Martha as if she was alive, so had never been updated, and no secondary source shows this. The Margaret Root involved has not been identified, so no indication if she is of a similar age. No children or any other mention of this marriage has been located.
