Tombstone says he was a 1st Sergeant in Herald's Arkansas Mounted Infantry, CSA, but it's unclear what unit that refers to.

Listed as a landholder at TWP18-R16-Sec25 on Nov 29, 1867 in Marion Co. Brother Demostenes listed for same section in 1872. [2]

    States that B.D. and brother Demonstenes went to California twice for the gold rush, were shipwrecked on the way back near Panama, moved to Arkansas in 1861 where they acquired land and buried their gold before enlisting in the Confederate army, survived the war, and returned to raise their families in Marion County.

    (Note that the origin story in this narrative for their father John is entirely wrong, and the narrative says their brother Bone died while he was in Missouri having children, so details should be taken with a grain of salt.)
