In the will of Barnabas Wines, father of Esther (Wines) Wells and grandfather of Bethia (Wells) Terry, written on 3 Feb 1762, we find: "To my granddaughter, Bethiah Terry, œ150. To my great grandson, Gershom Terry, Jr., œ50.

I, BARNABAS WINES, of Southold,in Suffolk County, being weak in body.I leave to my granddaughter, Mary Mapes, two 50-acre Lots of land atthe Wading river, Bounded west by John Paine, north by the Sound,south upon the Manor, and east by John Paine, during her life, andthen to her heirs.I leave to my grandson, Wines Osborn, my homestead, that is, my houseand land on which I live, 200 acres, bounded north by the Sound, eastby Daniel Osborn, south by highway, west by Daniel Reeve and the lateWalter Reeve. Also my clothes and the cupboard in my house.
