Facts and Events
When Barbara Foy and John Guthrie were married they moved into a little house in the yard at Sugar Loaf Farm, home of John's parents. An aunt, Polly Van Gundy of Pa. lived with them. When Sugar Loaf Farm was sold about 1838, William Guthrie and all his children, except Maria Ritter (the eldest) moved to Illinois. They traveled through Indiana on the State Road. Barbara Foy sold her land for $2000 and with her husband and children accompanied the rest to Illinois. In 1840 they moved to Carroll Co. Indiana. After the death of his wife, Mary VanGundy Foy in Sep of 1840, Jacob Foy her father also moved from Crawford Co Ohio to Carroll Co. Indiana. |
