INGRAM, Barbara Dobbins April 26, 2006: Born June 12, 1928, to Barbara Harris Dobbins and Ray Franklin Dobbins of Champaign, IL. Barbara Ingram passed away on Thursday, April 20 at Cottage Hospital surrounded by her loving family. In 1954, Barbara married Frederic B. Ingram and moved to Metairie, Louisiana, where they raised their three children. In 1982, Barbara moved to Montecito where she lived for the past 25 wonderful years. As a young girl, Barbara went to New York to study art, where she graduated from Scudder-Collver School. Gradually she found she was more in demand as a model than as a painter. By the time she was twenty-two, Barbara was a Conover model who had appeared on the cover of more than 16 magazines and was the Esquire Calendar Girl of 1951. During this time, she was offered a part by comedian Ken Murray as one of his Glamorlovelies on his popular TV show Ken Murray's Blackouts. She stayed with Murray for three years and had the great opportunity to work with legendary comedians such as Milton Berle and Morey Amsterdam. Recognizing her talent and potential, RKO studios convinced Barbara to leave New York and The Ken Murray show for Hollywood and a shot at the big screen.
