    [27 Aug 1793 Will of Banner Friend is probated in Hardin Co. KY

    - leaves the 274 acres he purchased from Thomas Gilleland on Nolinn below the mouth of Middle Creek to my wife Elizabeth Stuart [?] to be by her freely enjoyed.

    The two tracts that I purchased of P. Philips lying on Nolin whereon Samuel Watkins now lives unto my brother Joseph Friend together with my Negro Dick and all the rest of my personal estate after my lawful Funeral charges are paid by him his heirs and assigns forever freely enjoyed except the above said Negro Dick who I allow to be set free in Nineteen years from this date... said Negro shalle be Learned to Read at the Expense of Joseph Friend before the Expiration of aforesaid term. Philip Philips and George Hamilton appointed sole executors.
