History of Westminster, Massachusetts : First Named Narragansett, No. 2, from the Date of the Original Grant of the, Part 2, p. 907, says that John had two children born in Westminster, including John, b. 27 Apr 1755. There is no apparent death record for the first John to suggest why a second son would be named John, and so the vital records^S1 are probably correct in giving this son's name as Asa.
