This information is from the handwritten notes that Oswell Ellison took from a genealogy called "An Ellison Family of Virginia" that was given to him by Mrs. Hugh Ellison Voress. Oswell's notes say that Asa Ellison, Jr. (father of James, our direct line) moved to Pipestem when it was still in Giles County, VA. He owned/lived on the Tom's Run Property, but later sold it to William Meador. Oswell did not write and dates for these transactions.

The middle name of Asa "William" and the place of his birth were taken from pdeeds007@aol.com gedcom (2006) called "The Family Deeds." James Fullen Ellison is listed as the oldest of 8 children born to Asa Ellison, jr.
