From Caldwell's "History of Indiana County, Pennsylvania", page 467:

Asa was born in 1794 near Boston, Massachusetts, the son of Asa and Patience Crossman nee Oliver. About 1800 the family started west in a wagon, and at first stopped for a few years in southwestern New York. About 1806 they came to the vicinity of what is now Georgeville, where Asa Sr made a clearing, planted an orchard, etc. His next change was to what is now the John Drummond tract, near Punxsutawney, and finally to an eight-hundred acre tract near the Cherry-tree. He sold the lower part to a Mr Newman, and removed to the upper, where he died in 1828, about 53 years of age. Ancestral File Number:<AFN> FRW5-W5
