    Sabbath Recorder April 9, 1857 p. 175:
"In Adams, Jefferson Co., NY on the 25th of March, Dea. Asa Coon, in the sixty eighth year of his age. Bro. Coon embraced religion in early life, and was a lover of the character and principles of the Prince of Peace. During the last few days of his life he often said there was but one office in the church which he was ever particularly anxious to fill, it was that of a peace-maker. His disease was peculiarly painful and distressing; but an untrembling faith cheered him with a prospect of the eternal weight of glory, and he bore the most intolerable pain patiently and without a murmur. The aged widow and sorrowing children, are comforted knowing that his pains are over, and that he was prepared to meet his God with rapture and delight."
