Obituary: Memorial services for Arthur P. Armington, of Waite Hill, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Willoughby United Methodist Church, 15 Public Square, Willoughby. Mr. Armington died Feb. 14, 2007, at Fairmount Health Center at Breckenridge Village in Willoughby. Born June 24, 1921, in Euclid, he was a lifelong Lake County resident.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as an aviation maintenance supervisor. He was a longtime active member of Willoughby United Methodist Church where he served in many capacities through the years. He enjoyed boating, water skiing, traveling, dancing, golfing, playing Bridge, and was an avid private pilot. Mr. Armington was a 1939 graduate of the former Willoughby Union High School where he participated in the marching band. He graduated from the former Case School of Engineering (now Case Western Reserve University) in Cleveland, where he was also in the marching band. He was a member of the Willoughby Area Chamber of Commerce and the Willoughby Fine Arts Association where he served as a trustee. He was also a trustee for the former St. Luke's Hospital in Cleveland. He was a member of the Burroughs Nature Club and the R.O.M.E.O.'s. Family and friends were very, very dear to him. His favorite quote was, "I like to be a participant, and not a spectator." Mr. Armington was employed as a mechanical engineer at his family's business, the former Euclid Road Machinery Company after his military service. He later founded the former Mentor Radio Company in Willoughby which he owned for more than 45 years, retiring in 2000. Survivors are his wife of 38 years, Lois C. (Clinger) Armington; children, Rebecca Armington of Aurora, Arthur P. Armington III of Concord Township, Katherine (Timothy) Reid of Casablanca, Morocco and Andrew (Diane) Armington of Lorain; step-daughter, Beth (James A.) Falkner-Brown of Willoughby; grandchildren, Scott (Sandra) Kutscher, Catherine Kutscher, Matthew (Holly) Kutscher, Neil Kutscher, Taylor Reid, Brandon Reid and Tamar (James) Falkner Calland; four great grandchildren and brother, William S. (Lillian) Armington of Sarasota, Fla. He also leaves three nieces, and two nephews and their families. His parents Arthur P. and Katherine (Stewart) Armington; and stepson, Russell A. Falkner, Ph.D., are deceased. The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Davis Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby. The Rev. Warren Campbell-Gaston and the Rev. Lorna J. Westlake, both of Willoughby United Methodist Church, will officiate at the service. Private interment will be in Waite Hill Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Willoughby United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 15 Public Square, Willoughby 44094; or to the Fine Arts Association of Willoughby, 38660 Mentor Ave., Willoughby 44094, or to the Breckenridge Village Life Care Fund, 36855 Ridge Road, Willoughby 44094.

ARTHUR P. ARMINGTON ’42, died in February, 2007. He was a Class Agent and a member of the Case Deans’ Society for many years. He was the longtime owner of Mentor Radio in Mentor, OH. He lived in Waite Hill, OH and Naples, FL. He is survived by his wife, Lois, and six children.
