Archibald enlisted in Company O, 6th West Virginia Infantry on 12/30/1861. He was 5 foot 6 inches tall with fair complexion, grey eyes, and light hair color. He was listed as a farmer at the time of enlistment. He moved several times in his later years, living at Elk Garden, Mineral County in 1891, and then at Oakland, MD in 1912. He may have lived also at Somerset, PA.
