"...Anthony GATTIE operated a pump-making business in Mara. In 1891 he purchased part of Lot 13, CON 5 from Michael MCLEAN, Anthony's sale of the property was registered the same day. The GATTIE family left Mara in 1891 and in the census of that year resided in Orillia, where Anthony was a hotel-keeper...Anthony and Emma died in Orillia and were buried in St. Columbkille's cemetery"

    QUAY 3 Anthony Gattie...died at his residence, 117 Barrie Road on Friday evening, May 7, aged 70 years...The deceased was born in Bufflao, N. Y. His marriage 45 years ago to Miss McLean, of Brechin, was th e initial event in his 20 years residence there. For the past 25 years he has lived in Orillia. His wife and two sons are left, John and Charles, at home. One brother, William, lives in Buffalo. T he funeral was held on Monday morning to the Church of the Angels Guardian...and thence to St. Columbkille's cemetery, Uptergrove..."
