BIOGRAPHY: Genealogy of the Descendants of Anthony Collamer Of Scituate, Massachusetts By Charles Hatch Newcomb & Gauss, Publishers Salem, Mass. 1915 Page 97 Dr. Anthony Collamore graduated from Harvard College in 1806. He settled in Pembroke, Mass., as a practicing physician, where he lived and labored most acceptably in his profession for thirty-nine years, leaving at his decease, which occurred in the sixty-first year of his age, the enviable record of "a well spent life". His most intimate friend, the Rev. Morrill Allen, said of him, "His labors and usefulness were not confined to the duties of his calling alone. He was a valuable counselor in business concerns. So great was the confidence in his integrity and fidelity that trust concerns multiplied on his hands; but he carefully guarded against the interference of other affairs with professional duties." For one term Dr. Collamore represented the town of Pembroke in the State Legislature, but declined to serve a second term. He was a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society. He was a devout Christian and a member of the Unitarian Church of his town, and for the last twelve years of his attendance of twenty years he officiated as one of its deacons. |
