    Mrs. Alfred Zehren, 53, died at her home at 621 West Howard street at 8 a.m. today following an illness of about two years. She underwent an operation during April of 1938. She was born in Buffalo county but lived in Winona for 28 years following her marriage to Mr. Zehren at ST. Joseph's church here April 25, 1911. She is survived by her husband, four daughters, Mrs. Everett Laak of Winona and Mollie, Helen and Florence at home; her mother, Mrs. George Mertes, Sr., of Fountain City; two sisters, Mrs. Hugh Lowe of Winona and Mrs. John Zehren of Fountain City; five brothers, Jay Mertes, Frank Mertes and Nicholas Mertes of Winona and Bernard and George Jr. of Fountain City, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was a member of St. Joseph's parish and St. Ann's society, the Third Order of St. Francis, the Catholic Daughters of America and the Royal Neighbors. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the home and at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's church with the Rev. Bernard Kramer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery. The rosary will be said Tuesday at the home at 2:30 p.m. by the Third Order of St. Francis, at 3 p.m. by the St. Anne's society, at 8 p.m. by Father Kramer and at 8:30 p.m. by the Catholic Daughters of America
