Page 66. - ↑ «i»Stamvader is Wietse Botes from Enkhuizen in the Netherlands. Confirmed in church in 1736 and worked as 'sieketrooster' in Batavia. In 1744 he arrived in the Cape from Batavia on the ship De Ruyeter together with his wife Anna Pieterse. Wietse's son Anthonie Botes (he also had a daughter) also arrived in the Cape in 1744 and married Engela Erasmus on 26 March 1766.
