  2. 2.0 2.1 Ann Weidenaar was born on January 24, 1924, in Oak Lawn, Illinois. She grew up on a farm and attended Evergreen Park Christian School. The family obtained a meager income from the farm and life was hard. When she was eight years old her mother Trijntje died, and as the oldest sister Ann took on many family responsibilities. Her father Hessel died three years later and Ann went to live with an older cousin and his wife, Robert and Henrietta Weidenaar, in the Roseland area of Chicago. Ann graduated from Chicago Christian High School in 1941 and found employment with the People's Gas Light and Coke Company and Illinois Bell Telephone. She met Harold Boonstra, working at a defense plant in Chicago, at an adult Sunday School class at the First Christian Reformed Church of Roseland. On Ann's 23rd birthday she and Harold were married. They lived in Roseland, Evergreen Park, Orange City (Iowa), and Orland Park and were blessed with three children, nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Later in her life Ann used her shorthand skills and worked as a legal secretary for the law firm of Keck, Mahin & Cate in downtown Chicago. She and Harold were most recently members of Calvin Christian Reformed Church of Oak Lawn. Ann had a living and vibrant faith. She loved the simple gospel message - salvation by faith in Jesus Christ - but also explored the deeper issues of faith, and had twice read John Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religion. She was also intensely interested in missions and knew the gospel was for everyone, recalling Jesus' words in John 12:32 "When I am lifted up, I will draw all people to myself." Ann is survived by her husband of 65 years, Harold, her three children - Richard, Jackie Archer, Jan Kosmal, and two sisters - Agnes Ten Hor and Mathilda Ten Hor. She was preceded in death by her half brother Jake Oost, half sister Betty Oost DeHaan Meeuwse, brother Richard, and sister Wilma Ekema.
