Anna Eliza Saunders, daughter of Jesse and Esther Saunders, was born in Alfred, Allegany Co., N. Y., July 2, 1829, and died at her home in Albion, Wis., January 7, 1913, aged 83 years, 6 months and 5 days.
At the age of twelve years she came, in 1841, with her parents to Wisconsin. When 18 years old she was baptized by Elder Campbell and united with the Albion Seventh-day Baptist Church, of which she remained a faithful member until called to rest. November 2, 1850, she was married to Joseph M. Wood. Seven children were born to this union, one of whom died in infancy. Two others, Melvin G. and Elnora F., wife of Ernest Drake, died several years ago, and the rest, Mrs. Mary A. Lawton, Jesse A. Wood, Mrs. Esther A. Gunderson and Mrs. Lillian Harrington, survive her.
She was a kind and loving mother, a sympathetic friend and neighbor, and a large circle of friends hold her in loving remembrance.
Funeral services were held at the home, January 9, conducted by her pastor, Rev. C. S. Sayre. C. S. S.
