The following is believed to be from the family history written by Anna E. Darby:

"Ann Maria married James Allen -- lived in the house long known as the Lew Sprague residence, now owned by the Martins. James Allen was an early postmaster in McArthur - 1848 - 1853. It was there that my Grandfather, Alex Pearce, first saw my grandmother, Amanda Ward. One of their sons names was Charles Allen."
