“Angeline Loraine Tate, wife of A. L. Todd, was born in Orange County, Indiana, January 6th, 1830, and was a daughter of John Doan Tate. Her father’s ancestry came also from Scotland, her great grandfather coming to America some time before the Revolutionary War. Her gradfather, Zachariah, was born in Orange County, N. C., 1784 and in 1795 came with his parents to Davidson County, Tenn., near Stony Licks; thence later to Green County, East Tenn. He married Elizabeth Doane and their son John Doan was born in E. Tenn., Feb. 20, 1807. In 1822, they settled in Paoli, Orange County, Ind. John Doan married Lucinda Snyder Shrayer of German and English descent, who was the mother of Mrs. Todd.” - Aurelius Todd
