Andronikos Doukas Angelos Komnenos Palaiologos, known in modern scholarship as Andronikos II Palaiologos, Latinized as Andronicus II Palaeologus (; 25 March 1259 – 13 February 1332), was Byzantine emperor from 11 December 1282 to 23/24 May 1328. He was the eldest surviving son of Michael VIII Palaiologos and Theodora Doukaina Vatatzina, grandniece of John III Doukas Vatatzes. On 8 November 1273, Andronikos II married Anne of Hungary (1260–1281), daughter of the king Stephen V of Hungary.
