About 1906, ANdrew built a house on the farm in Shsultz, Hope Twp., that had belonged to his father David Lewis Smith. In the 1880 Census of Pittsford, Hillsdale Co., ANdrew is listed as a stepson of Lewis. However, all other evidence seems to prove that Andrew was a biological son of David Lewis,. The 1917 Barry County Rural Directory listed Andrew as a resident of Shultz with his wife, 4 children, 5 horses, and 5 cows. This family contined to reside in Shultz in 1920, with their 2 youngest children.
